A hospice is just £1million away from reaching a £6m fundraising goal as plans for a new unit in Farnham move closer to becoming a reality.
Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice has received an outpouring of support in its bid to create an 18-bed inpatient unit on the edge of town.
Thousands have already helped the hospice to save £5million through donations and support but a final push is needed to hit the target, with more fundraising events planned over the coming months to get the good cause over the line.
The hospice has received no NHS funding for the new hospice so they’ve attempted to raise £6million through a Capital Appeal in addition to maintaining their incredible ongoing services.
Sarah Church, the hospice’s chief executive, said Phyllis Tuckwell is “so grateful” for the support with the Edward Gostling Foundation donating an “incredible” £1.5million.
She said: “We hope our amazing local community, whose support is so important to us, will help us raise the remaining £1million for the build, as well as continue to support our ongoing work.”
Denis Taylor, Chair of The Edward Gostling Foundation said: “We were delighted to fund vital facilities in the new Hospice such as the Education & Training suite.”
Justine, local GP and supporter of the Your New Hospice Appeal said: “Knowing my patients will be able to access specialist care in the new hospice, and when the time comes, they can spend their final days being looked after in their own home, is a great comfort.”
