A LIGHT-HEARTED satire about the Prince of Wales and his family has been given the royal stamp of approval.
Getting a signed letter from Queen Camilla might be the crowning achievement of Polly Sharpe’s writing career.
The writer from Sheet received the reply after sending the Monarch a copy of her third book, The Royal Mouser.
The story is about the kidnap of Prince Louis and the “reality tests” his parents face to ensure his safe return.
They include a family shop in Tesco for under £100, taking their dog to a vet and surviving the advances of an amorous hairdresser.
Polly sent copies to Queen Camilla, Princess Catherine and Penny Mordaunt MP with the latter also sending a reply. But the Director of Communication at The Bohunt Trust was especially thrilled to get one from the Queen.
She joked: “To tell the truth I saw the ‘Ca’ mark in the corner and thought it was from Catherine so when I opened it I was like ‘oh, it’s from Camilla.’
“But I was thrilled and straight away texted my immediate family about how much it meant. I will get it framed.”
In her replying letter Queen Camilla thanked Mrs Sharpe for her “very kind card” and book.
The Monarch added she was “very much looking forward to reading it as it looks like the perfect light-hearted summer read.”
The seeds for the book were potted when Polly started a blog with short stories comparing the lives of her two small children to the Duchess of Cambridge’s in 2016.
