Plans to build two homes on a former landfill site near Headley have been temporarily put on hold by councillors.

Proposals by Fellows Planning Ltd for a pair of detached four-bedroom homes on and east of Brook Lodge on Bowcott Hill in Arford looked set for approval.

The infill application recommended for approval included a car barn, landscaping, access and biodiversity area.

But a decision has been deferred by East Hampshire District Council amid questions about possible contamination.

Members of the planning committee have decided to hold a site visit as they want to ascertain what the contamination was.

They also wanted to know why EHDC did not have records of previous applications for the site, especially as they were refused.
