Alton Rotary Club has launched this year’s search for local young talent in the fields of photography and writing.

The annual Rotary competitions for Young Photographer and Young Writer of the Year have begun, with the closing date in December.

Entrants are invited to submit photographs, prose or poetry on the theme of‘ ‘Rebuilding’, with a suggestion that the theme can be interpreted in a wide range of ways.

Schools in the Alton area are being circulated with full details and entry forms, which are also available at www.altonrotaryclub.uk – search at ‘What We Do’.

There are three age categories – up to ten years old, 11-13 years old and 14-17 years old.

Competition organiser Alan Falder said he expected extra interest this year. He said: “Last year a local young photographer, Toby Bayliss, won the Alton heat and went on to win the regional heat and to enter the national final with a fine picture of Chawton church spire. There’s every opportunity for local talent to be recognised at a national level in these competitions.”

Alton, and Four Marks and Medstead, Rotary clubs have merged to form the Rotary Club of Alton. For details call Mike Sanders on 07808 093953 or visit www.altonrotaryclub.uk
