POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Tongham on Friday night.
Officers were called by Royal Surrey County Hospital around 9.35pm on October 15 following reports that a man had been admitted with stab wounds.
The man remains in hospital in a serious condition.
A Surrey Police spokesman said in a statement: “An investigation is underway into the circumstances of this assault.
“Officers believe that it took place in an alleyway near the Cricketers public house in Tongham.
“A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the incident.
“They are still in custody and our investigation remains ongoing.
“We are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with any footage taken in the area around the time of the assault, or anyone with any other information, to contact us straightaway.“
