A thief broke into Berkeley Sports in Upper Hale Road in the early hours of last Friday, causing damage valued at £4,000 to £5,000.
Owner Martyn Grimes, whose niece is Paralympian Kylie Grimes, was alerted to the break-in by a post on Facebook.
He arrived to find the thief broke in through the front door of the shop, having failed to gain entry from the rear.
Martyn believes the thief broke in at around 4am – but the shop's CCTV system was stolen in the raid.
He is still assessing how much stock was stolen, but has notified his insurer and the police.
Martyn took on Berkeley Sports from previous owner and present-day Farnham Cricket Club chairman Patrick Strachan nine years ago, and the shop has been based in Upper Hale Road for the past quarter of a century.
It supplies specialist sports equipment to schoolchildren and club players.
